Feddes Red Angus is an integrated family operation owned by the Feddes family. In 1925, Chuck Feddes’ grandparents relocated their ranching operations to the
Gallatin Valley from Canada. The operation has been passed down through the generations and is now being managed by father and son, Chuck and Jake Feddes.
The ranch is a purebred Red Angus operation headquartered between Manhattan and Churchill, MT. In 2020, the family expanded their enterprise to purchase the
Amsterdam Meats facility and form Feddes Family Meats as an additional way to market beef produced from their cattle, and other locally sourced livestock,
while continuing to provide custom meat processing services in the Gallatin Valley.
Originally, a purebred Hereford operation, Chuck disbursed the Hereford cattle beginning in 1991 and replaced them with a registered Red Angus herd that has
been improved to its current status as one of the premier purebred Red Angus herds in the nation. This is evidenced by Chuck and Carol’s receipt of the National
Red Angus Association’s Breeder of the Year award in 2013. They work with neighboring Red Angus breeders to market between 140 and 150 purebred Red Angus bulls
and close to 200 purebred cows and heifers each year.
Community and industry leadership are important traits of the Feddes family. Chuck was a basketball coach in Manhattan for many years and has been an active
member of the Gallatin Beef Producers, Gallatin County Farm Bureau, and Association of Gallatin Agricultural Irrigators. Jake is also active with the Gallatin
Beef Producers, Gallatin County Farm Bureau, Montana Stockgrowers Association and National Cattleman’s Beef Association.
The Feddes family are longstanding members of the Gallatin Valley’s ranching community, good friends, and good neighbors.
